To commemorate 40 years of his untimely death, Alisan Fine Arts is proud to present “A Legacy of Ink: Lui Shou-kwan 40 Years On: An Exhibition of Lui Shou-kwan’s works, His students’ and a New Generation of artists”. Lui Shou-kwan (1919-1975) is credited with founding the New Ink Painting Movement, which has had far-reaching influence on modern and contemporary ink art. The works by 12 of his students include Wucius Wong, Irene Chou, Kan Tai-keung, Koo Mei, and a new generation of emerging artists will be on display at the Hong Kong Arts Centre (Sept 23 -30).
As part of this exhibition we will be showcasing works by the new generation of artists at the gallery from Sept 14 – 30. They include Cheuk Ka-wai, Cherie, Ho Kwun-ting, Hung Keung, Kassia Ko, Hanison Lau Hok-shing, CC Ling Pui-sze and anothermoutainman (Stanley Wong). Through a display of ink painting, mixed media on canvas, sculpture, video and photography, this preview features a new direction for the New Ink Movement.
Cherie Cheuk, Hung Keung, Kassia Ko and CC Ling will explain their work in an informal talk on 19 Sept at the gallery starting at 4pm, before and after meet & greet the artists sessions.
