Juri Markkula and Cindy Ng Sio Ieng’s mesmerising creations captures viewers with imbued attention. The first wonder would often come in mind: How was this made?
During the talk Digital Integration, the artists will share their experiences of working with technology. For Markkula, using lab-quality 3D scanners and custom-built 3D reductive printers, the artist makes three-dimensional and highly sculptural art pieces where colours and depths of nature are magnified by the artist’s proficiency in digital engineering and means of highly-advanced technologies. For Ng, she creates two-dimensional, as well as video art capturing the flowing motions of ink through the use of unconventional art materials, photography and digital video.
Both artists will be in conversation with the Director of the Art Museum and Associate Professor (by courtesy) at CUHK, Mr. Josh Chun Chong Yiu. A specialist in late imperial and modern Chinese art, Yiu has also taught and lectured at various universities in the US.
