DE SARTHE GALLERY is pleased to announce an artist talk with de Sarthe Artist Residency (deSAR)‘s first resident artist Andrew Luk and the curator and exhibitions manager of HOCALauren Every-Wortman, on Saturday, 5 August, 4pm-5pm. The conversation between Luk and Every-Wortman will revolve around the evolution of Luk’s new artwork for the residency and how his use of the gallery space aggressively challenges the conventional transition of dynamics between artists’ studios and galleries.

Born in 1988 in Summit, New Jersey, USA, Andrew Luk graduated from the New England School of Art and Design (NESAD) in Boston, MA with a BFA in 2010. He also graduated from Suffolk University in Boston, MA with a BA in European History the same year. He was raised in Hong Kong and is an active member of the local art scene. His work has been exhibited internationally including “LIGHT & SPACE,” 10Design Architect Studio, Hong Kong (2017); “,” Blindspot Gallery, Hong Kong (2017); “At Wits’ End,” Kula Bazaar ACC, Gwangju, Korea (2016); “The Imaginary Order,” Gallery Exit, Hong Kong (2016); “The Magnet Palace,” Clockenflap, Hong Kong (2015); “Change Seed : Contemporary art from HK & Beyond,” Center on Contemporary Art, Seattle WA, USA (2015); “ART MONEY,” XXX Gallery, Hong Kong (2015); “No Fixed Abode,” Videotage, Hong Kong (2015); Cavity Lab, April 30th, 100 Condor st. East Boston (2011); “Springboard 2,” The Adams Gallery, Suffolk University Law School, Boston MA (2010). He is the recipient of the 2016 Project Grant from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and the 2014 Emerging Artist Grant from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. He currently lives and works in Hong Kong.
