Galerie Ora-Ora and the Hong Kong Art Gallery Association are delighted to co-present an artist discussion and ink demonstration workshop with Nina Pryde on 17th August (Saturday), 3-5pm.
Nina Pryde’s artistic process reflects a navigation between the estimable past and contemporary reality. Her seminal collage technique combines Chinese ink painting with photography, making her intrinsically modern. This allows her to fuse pictorial realism with calligraphic expressiveness. Pryde values photography as it is the first art form that she has engaged with. She always takes multiple photographs of a scene, reflecting her strive for perfection and ruminative dimension.
During the workshop, participants will not only be able to observe Pryde’s artistic process, but also try ink painting and experiment with collage techniques under her guidance. This is an opportunity for the audience to interact with the artist directly and to appreciate her artistic endeavour.
About the Exhibition
“Infinity” pays homage to an iconic line featured in Avatamsaka Sutra, a scripture of East Asian Buddhism. In essence, the artist wishes to communicate her central belief that “The human heart is like a painter who has the ability to paint anything in the world, there is nothing one cannot do when his appearance, feelings, thoughts, behaviour and ideology are in harmony with each other.”
