Shaping of clay can be done in various ways in contemporary ceramic art, including pinching, wheel throwing, carving and more. In the lecture, Ms. Winnie Lo will introduce to the audience shaping techniques in ceramic art creation and the tools used. She will also share creative concepts on shaping, allowing the audience to a gain a deeper understanding about the “Childhood” exhibition works from the perspective of pottery shaping.
About the Speaker
Born in Hong Kong, Winnie Lo Wai Li has been a ceramist for over 30 years. She obtained a higher certificate in Studio Ceramics from Hong Kong Polytechnic in 1983 and won the first prize in the Tea Ware in Hong Kong Potters Competition In 1986. She has served as a part-time tutor for various public and private organisations and schools, including Hong Kong Arts Centre, HK Phab, HKU SPACE and I-kiln Studio. Ms. Lo specialises in creating diverse animal forms through wheel-throwing. She has participated in more than 50 joint exhibitions. Her work is collected by the Hong Kong Museum of Art and private collectors.
