Cheer Bell Gallery proudly presents its upcoming show “Glittering”, Solo Exhibition by Anthony P Yim, MD, starting from 18 February 2021 (Thursday) to 20 March 2021 (Saturday). The opening of “Glittering” will be held at 5 pm on 18 February 2021 (Thursday), and the artist will be present on the day of opening. You are cordially invited to visit us and attend our opening by appointment in advance.
Dr. Anthony Yim was attracted to art from an early age, but followed his late father’s advice to study medicine. He eventually became an internationally acclaimed thoracic surgeon for his pioneering work in developing Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS), and a former Chair Professor of Surgery at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. While he was enjoying his career success, his failing health forced him to give up the surgery he loved for an early retirement. Instead of feeling demoralized, his passion for art and strong determination prompted him to pick up painting again in 2017. Instead of using his hands to save lives, he is now using his artworks to aspire others to think positively. He came around full circle to pursue his childhood dream as an artist!
This dream has kept Dr. Yim motivated in his pursuit of art. “Glittering” showcases for the first time, the latest and selected collection of his experimental abstract works of using sand, stone, calligraphy ink, and glitter etc. To him, the art creation process is an inward journey of self-cultivation to rediscover, understand and accept yourself for who you are – a journey in pursuit of sustainable inner peace and happiness.
Life is full of challenges and we are now in a historical time of turmoil. We hope Dr. Yim’s work and the story behind him could aspire you to look at the world in a different light, think positively and turn challenges into opportunities.
