“NO RISK. NO FUN” A Solo Exhibition by Reach
6th – 29th July, 2017
1/F, 159-163 Hollywood Road, Central, Hong Kong

Over The Influence is proud to present “No Risk, No Fun”, a solo exhibition by Reach from the 6 July to 29 July, displaying 15 canvas works featuring Reach Boy, a humorous and nutty character that is at the same time rebellious but positive. Through the series of paintings, Reach Boy brings to mind current affairs and environmental concerns in a playful and spirited way. A pioneer of urban art in Taiwan, Reach pieces together dribs and drabs of life through the play of clean lines, clear colours and a dash of urban culture. Constantly pushing Taiwanese graffiti and street art to the international platform, Reach has made a presence through Europe, Japan and China and spreading the passion of Taiwanese graffiti internationally.

“In these twenty years, my style has become more stable and gone its own way. Then, it has started to change more in the free-style. Now, when I am creating the work, I don’t sketch except if there is a special reason. I am just following the feeling at that moment and paint.”

Combining simple, striking and bright lines and hues, Reach presents a vibrant solo exhibition featuring unique works that leads people to reflect upon the status quo.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Dubbed as one of the most influential pioneer of Taiwan’s street art movement, graffiti artist Reach began his journey since 1995. Best known for his signature Pink Bear & Blue Cat, he employs his clean and clear colors with well-crafted contouring to reflect his persistence in life for perfection. Apart from being an artist, Reach continued to explore and experiment with design, photography and vast layers of media, and collaborated with many of the industry’s heavyweights. In 2008, Reach published his first publication, “ TOOYA! Taiwan Grafitti ”, and has continued to establish his place on the global platform. He also participated to the fullest extent in all of the extremes; whether exhibiting at galleries around the globe, painting on canvases, walls or crafting large-scale murals, he aims to raise culture awareness through his work. In 2014 Reach took parts in POW! WOW! Hawaii and later acted as Creative Director for POW! WOW! Taiwan to help push local street art culture abroad.
