Puerta Roja is proud to present Human Topographies, an exhibition showcasing three different generations of artists working in Mexico City. Through their painting, drawing and sculptures, the artists dissect and reconstitute three-dimensionally the topographies of human nature and its relation to a physical and spiritual landscape.
The exhibition will open on the 20th of May during the Hong Kong Art Gallery Association’s “Art Night” as part of Art Basel’s week VIP programme and celebrates the breadth and growing international diversity of the Hong Kong art scene. Puerta Roja will bring together works of three of its most notable solo exhibitions since it opened its doors in 2010. On all three occasions, it was the first time the artists exhibited in Asia, and highlights the pioneering spirit of a young gallery that has certainly made its mark in the fast growing international art scene in Hong Kong .
Curated by Adriana Alvarez-Nichol, Puerta Roja’s founder, the exhibition will include large and small scale paintings from Mexican icon Roberto Cortázar’s Dynamic series -recently exhibited at the San Diego Museum of Art, unique yarn covered sculptures by Hector Velazquez, as well as paper drawings and ceramics by Spanish rising star Maria Garcia-Ibanez.
