Fabrik Gallery is delighted to present “limited edition | édition limitée” an exhibition that showcases limited edition prints from some of the contemporary art world’s most successful and recognised artists: Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst and Marc Quinn. Collectors and art enthusiasts are welcome to visit the gallery beginning on October 6th to view these iconic editions.

Distinct in character, style and artistic medium, the artists exhibited at “limited edition | édition limitée” reflect individuals whose evolution from humble artist to internationally recognised figure in the art world recounts a larger story of art as an identifiable and accessible brand. Having built their brand persona through a series of thematically unique and distinctive works that have withstood the test of time, Warhol, Haring, Hirst and Quinn have managed to blur the line between art obtainable by the elite and art available to all.

One of the greatest artists of our time, Pablo Picasso, understood that creating an “aura”, of defining yourself beyond your art, was the key to arousing interest and fascination thereby creating demand. The artists in “limited edition | édition limitée” have mastered this concept, moving from unknown illustrator, street artist, or experimental artist to household names, creating art exhibited in the world’s most respected institutions to commercial merchandise available to the masses. Within this pyramid is the unique edition print. The edition print offers the wider art appreciative audience the possibility of owning a high-quality print of some of art’s most iconic images. Although the limited edition print widens the market scope for the art, it still maintains distinctive appreciative value as only limited quantities are produced. Owning a masterpiece has never been easier.

DAMIEN HIRST  (1965 – present) is an internationally renowned British contemporary artist who was a founding member of the Young British Artists who dominated the art scene in the UK during the 1990s. Hirst’s work often deals with the subject of death and the ephemerality of life. He is known for creating both controversial and commercial works.

ANDY WARHOL (1928 – 1987) was an American artist who, following a career as a commercial illustrator, became a celebrated painter, avant-garde filmmaker, record producer, author, and a public figure moving in diverse social circles that included bohemian street people, distinguished intellectuals, Hollywood celebrities and wealthy aristocrats

MARC QUINN (1964 – present) is a highly regarded British sculptor and visual artist who was a member of the Young British Artists, active during the 1990s. Quinn’s work is themed variously around the fragility of nature and the distant relationship we have with our bodies. Sometimes considered a “scientist-artist”, Quinn is known for experimenting with unconventional materials his work.

KEITH HARING (1958 – 1990) was an American artist and social activist whose work responded to the New York City street culture of the 1980s by expressing concepts of birth, death, sexuality and war. Haring’s work was often heavily political and his imagery has become a widely recognised visual language of the 20th century.
