Karin Weber Gallery is proud to present ‘Six Briefcases’ an exhibition that showcases the work of six upcoming Hong Kong talents and has taken several years in the making

Each artist has chosen a vintage briefcase to create a unique artwork. The briefcases are individual in character, imbued with a sense of history and passed down through generations. They were used for different purposes – as a doctor’s bag, for outdoor picnics and for storing newly tailored suits in the olden days.

Andio Lai has turned his briefcase into a portable vinyl record player allowing visitors to touch and interact with the artwork thereby creating new value and meanings. Carmen Ng showcases a diary which is her most valuable possession. Joyce Lung’s places wood-fired objects in a picnic briefcase that has travelled in Hong Kong and Chicago whilst having picnics with friends, a pleasant activity which brings people together. Leo Wong refabricates objects which have become obsolete and rekindles memories once lost. Tom Chung Man uses a spinning briefcase as an analogy for that a lot of the fast pace of events in f things and events happen so quickly in Hong Kong, suggesting with the result that their true meanings can never be fully understood. Tung Wing Hong’s work engages with the process of depicts transformation as the briefcase is continuously compressed and expanded.
