After a brief pause, we are excited to announce the resumption of our Summer Talk Series. This series, launched on June 30th, explores an array of topics related to our current exhibition Uniquely Hong Kong. To extend the riveting conversation from our first talk on the development of Hong Kong Art, this second talk will address the question of what makes Hong Kong art unique, how to define it and is it really necessary to define?
Uniquely Hong Kong – A Celebration of Hong Kong Art showcases a selection of artworks by twenty-eight Hong Kong artists; some of the work is specially produced for the exhibit. Using Hong Kong’s rich heritage as the kernel to highlight the diversity and talent of these artists, the exhibition reflects on the broad signification of Hong Kong art.
We are pleased to have four speakers from different fields in the art industry partaking in the talk: William Lim, renowned Hong Kong architect, art collector, and artist; Elaine Ng, Publisher of Art AsiaPacific Magazine; Carmen Shek Cerne, Head of Sale and Senior Specialist on Chinese Paintings from Christie’s; and Alexandra Seno, Head of Development at Asia Art Archive and art critic, who will be moderating the discussion. Each speaker will shed light on how their experiences with Hong Kong’s art industry have influenced and shaped their understanding of Hong Kong art. The discussion will consider the nuances of this eclectic label and highlight what our current exhibition reveals about this topic.
Speakers:
Dr. William Lim
