As part of Southside Saturday and the last day of our current exhibition “Chinese Surrealism”, come to Alisan Aberdeen for a fun family afternoon of art. Children will be inspired to explore this important movement with a series of games that challenge one to match the works on display with French Surrealist masterpieces from Centre Pompidou that are currently on display at the HK Musuem. The day will be rounded off with a Q&A session.
About the Exhibition
This exhibition is a response to the French Surrealist exhibition: Mythologies & Beyond: Masterpieces from the Centre Pompidou which is currently on show at the Hong Kong Museum of Art in collaboration and is presented by the French May Arts Festival this year.
The artists include Cherie Cheuk Ka-wai, Mok Yat-san, Mui Ngo-suet, Charlotte, Ngai Wing-lam, Ant, Wu Shaoxiang and Zhang Xiaoli. Selected for their interest in Surrealist ideas and imagery such as, dreamscapes and the exploration of the unconscious mind. Using a contemporary Chinese lens, they portray surrealism with their individual technique and media. The surrealist artists they are taking inspiration from include Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali, Man Ray, Alberto Giacometti, Giorgio Chirico and Joan Miro.
