Gallery Intern - Over the Influence

Over the Influence was founded in Hong Kong in 2015 and expanded to Los Angeles in 2018, followed by Bangkok in 2021 and Paris in 2022.

The gallery represents an international roster of over thirty emerging and established artists who work in a diverse range of mediums and disciplines. Besides operating parallel programmes across locations, the gallery continues to expand its programme through art fairs, special projects and attaining museum exhibitions.

We are currently seeking a proactive, organised, and enthusiastic intern to join our team with the opportunity to explore and gain in-depth knowledge of gallery operation.

As part of the global team, the candidate shall be responsible for:

  • Assist with daily operations and general administration tasks
  • Provide support for organising exhibitions and art fairs
  • Assist in cataloguing and translation of writing materials
  • Assist with shipping, logistics and art handling as needed
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as required

You are required:

  • University students or fresh graduates with a passion in contemporary art
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Good knowledge in design software, such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and SketchUp
  • Responsible, organised, self-motivated with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, another language is a plus

Located in Central area.
The working hours is from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 7 pm with an hour lunch break.
Immediate availability is preferable.
This is a full-time internship position, however part-time position is possible with a commitment of 2-3 days per week.

Intern (Full-time) - Hong Kong Art Gallery Association

Summary 

Hong Kong Art Gallery Association is currently seeking an intern to assist in the general planning, coordination and execution of HKAGA’s programme in 2023. 

  • Working Hours: 10 am - 7 pm, 4-5 days per week (Mon–Sat)
  • Commitment: 3 months 
  • The internship stipend will be provided 

Responsibilities 

Assist in the design, general planning, coordination and execution of HKAGA programme, including but not limited to: 

  • Promotion of Hong Kong galleries exhibition on HKAGA website and social media platforms
  • Liaise with galleries, arts and cultural organisations, government bodies, art fairs, educational institutions and corporations 
  • Design and prepare promotional and marketing materials
  • Source suppliers & vendors 
  • Translation work 
  • Support event logistics, such as art talks, gallery tours and workshops 

Requirements 

  • University graduate or student, preferably in the Art & Culture field 
  • Proven interest in visual art 
  • Mature, presentable, with good communication & interpersonal skills
  • Possessing creativity, initiative & self-motivation 
  • Able to work independently & efficiently 
  • Able to multi-task, with good organisational skills 
  • Attention to detail and sense of responsibility 
  • Strong command of spoken & written English & Chinese 
  • Experience and skills in social media are preferred 
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Proficiency in graphic design is highly preferred

We are looking for an all-round Admin & Design Assistant (Full-time/part-time) to join our team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide all-round administrative and operational support
  • Support in organizing and planning art exhibitions, event logistics, and sales in an effective manner
  • Liaise with internal and external parties and other company clients
  • Perform general office management duties, including answering telephone or email inquiries, greeting guests, handling deliveries, scheduling, issuing company documents
  • Assist in performing ad-hoc project and other tasks as assigned
  • Manage social media accounts and posts

Requirements:

  • Experience in administration or clerical duties is preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree of any discipline (Business Administration, Marketing or related discipline is preferred, Art-related disciplines are welcomed)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Advantage if experienced in design, basic media editing applications (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Good command of English and Chinese, (Basic Knowledge in Korean is a bonus)
  • Excellent communication, collaborative, interpersonal skills, tech-savvy
  • Well-organized, attentive to details, reliable, and proactive
  • Understanding of Art and Korean Culture is a plus

Responsibilities:

- Assist daily operations of the gallery, including general office administration.

- Conduct artist and artwork introduction in a professional manner.

- Support the team in organizing upcoming exhibitions and art fair preparation (longer hours may be required on installation and event days).

- Preparing marketing and press material for upcoming exhibitions.

 

Requirements

- Candidate with work experience in related filed is preferred;

- Degree or relevant qualifications in Art/Art History/ Art Management/Journalism or related field, also open to other qualifications as appropriate;

- Good command of spoken and written Cantonese, English & Mandarin;

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

- Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, knowledge in Photoshops/AI is an advantage;

Working Hours

Tuesday to Saturday 11:00 a.m - 7:00 p.m.

Working Period

Starting from August 2023 to January 2024.

Description:
- Assist in the preparation of the Ink Society's "A Tribute to Chu Hing Wah" exhibition, as well as the "Liu Kuo-sung Ink Art Award" to be held at Fine Art Asia, 5-8 Oct 2023
- Assist in catalogue editing, proof-reading & research
- Assist in exhibition planning & logistics
- Assist in the day-to-day operation, as required
- During Fine Art Asia, duties include engaging with the fair visitors and introducing them to the exhibited artworks

Requirements:
- Preferably a student/recent graduate with an Arts degree & a passion for art
- Personable, resourceful, self-motivated, organised & detail-oriented; able to work both independently and with a small team

- English and Cantonese/Mandarin fluency

- Knowledge of Adobe and Photoshop strongly preferred
