Job description

  • PA tasks for the director (Lawrence)
  • First point of call for public enquiries during the exhibition’ course

Gallery Intern (Part-Time/ Full Time) - Soluna Fine Art

Soluna Fine Art is an art gallery specializing in contemporary art and objects with deep roots in multicultural philosophy and aesthetics within the present-day dialogues.

We are looking for a high calibre Gallery Intern (part-time / ideally full-time), with potential to be promoted to a full-time Gallery Assistant role, to join our Gallery Content team. You will be working closely with the Gallery Content Manager, not only supporting the daily operations but also building exhibition contents and directly engaging with the audience. You will be given a chance to be involved in different aspects of the art gallery industry and exhibition planning.


Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Station at the reception desk and proactively welcome visitors, holding small to big guided tours.
  • Assist in exhibition production, including bilingual written material, logistics, installations, de-installations and documentation of artwork conditions.
  • Assist in designing and developing exhibition materials, and translate such relevant documents from English to Chinese (or vice versa).
  • Assist in PR & Marketing, including social media accounts, website and Artsy.
  • Assist in on-site and off-site gallery events and openings.
  • Assist in general office administration.
  • Assist with ad hoc duties as assigned by the Manager(s).

Requirements:

  • Degree holder or a graduate, ideally majoring in art history, communication, journalism, English literature is preferred.
  • Familiar with using WIX, Adobe Clouds and Microsoft office & excel is highly preferred.
  • High-attention to details
  • Previous working experience in art gallery, museum and other art institutions is an advantage.
  • 3 working days per week for part-time or 5 working days per week for full time
  • Good command of written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin are essential. Fluency in other foreign languages is welcome.
  • Familiar with using WIX, Adobe Clouds and Microsoft office & excel is highly preferred.
  • Able to work in a team and independently.
  • Have a can-do attitude and are willing to do their very best.
  • Successful and outstanding candidate will be considered to a long term or full-time position after the internship,

Tang Contemporary Art is looking for a part-time or full-time intern, subject to availability.

Responsibilities:
- Assist in day-to-day operations - including sourcing materials, running errands, and supporting all foundation departments and team members in Hong Kong;
- Contribute to exhibition production, with the flexibility to work longer hours on required installation or event days;
- Prepare and review presentation materials required for the gallery and foundation exhibition in detail;
- Be responsible for some reception work;
- Translate work may be applicable.

Requirements:
- Language: Must be fluent in English & Mandarin (speaking, reading, and writing); Cantonese is a plus;
- Art History or related University degree;
- Interest and willingness to work in contemporary art;
- Presentable with excellent communication skills;
- Reliable and detail-oriented;

Kiang Malingue | Gallery Assistant

Kiang Malingue was founded in Hong Kong in 2010 to build a critical dialogue between Asian and international contemporary artists, both emerging and established, who combine aesthetic concern with conceptual enquiry, and work across different disciplines from video and installation to painting and sound.

We are currently seeking a proactive and organised candidate to join our team as Gallery Assistant in the full range of tasks, including, but not limited to daily operation, archiving and exhibition management.

You shall be responsible for:
– Assisting daily operation and general administration tasks
– Managing archival records through photographing and updating inventory
– Providing logistics support in condition check, packing/unpacking and moving
– Produce drawing and co-ordinating production and installation/de-installation for exhibition and fairs
– Other ad-hoc-tasks as required

You are required:
– Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and SketchUp
– Basic knowledge in art handling, AV equipment and digital technologies is a plus

Two gallery spaces locate in Aberdeen and Wan Chai.
Occasional transfer between two locations might be required.
The working hours is from Tuesday to Saturday, 10 am to 7 pm with an hour lunch break.

Gallery Operations Manager - Soluna Fine Art

Soluna Fine Art is a gallery specialising in Asian fine art and objects with deep roots in South Korea. Our mission is to revitalise interest in Eastern aesthetics and philosophy by showcasing established and emerging artists and works of traditional value with contemporary interpretation. Works by artists represented by Soluna Fine Art can be found in private collections and institutions around the world. As well as exhibitions, our annual programme includes fairs, educational initiatives and multi-disciplinary collaborations on an international level.

We are seeking a candidate with a solid experience in art galleries for a full-time Gallery Operations Manager position. This person will be assisting the gallery owner in business management and development, as well as overseeing the day-to-day operation of the gallery and coordinating the exhibitions. An ideal candidate should be a responsible, great in communication and experienced person who can lead the team and assist the owner. 


Responsibilities:

Gallery Operations:

  • Manage all shippings and coordinate with shippers and suppliers, including requesting quotations, preparing documents such as commercial invoices, work lists, and certificate of insurance, etc.
  • Oversee exhibition installation and de-installation.
  • Conduct condition checks and report prior artwork shipping and shipment arrival with the support from Gallery Assistant.
  • Manage the gallery’s inventory in the exhibition space and external storage, and conduct inventory checks twice a year with the support from the team.
  • Manage the gallery’s fine art, public liability, and business protection insurance.


Administration and Finance:

  • Compile and organize all sales invoices and expense receipts with the support from Gallery Assistant.
  • Ensure all expenses and outstanding amount, including artist payments, are settled.
  • Ensure transferring all financial documents to the gallery’s accountants for annual accounting and audit processes.
  • Ensure gallery adheres to all government and legal regulations, and communicate with government departments, landlord, and other possible vendors, suppliers, and parties when needed.
  • Ensure office supplies, such as stationeries, miscellaneous items, wrapping and packing materials have enough stock with the support from Gallery Assistant.
 
Exhibitions and Events:
  • Manage all art fair applications, including all logistics, administration, and coordination.
  • Oversee on-site and off-site private events and dinners.
  • Oversee the general PR and Marketing strategies, including press materials, media communications, and gallery's social and online platforms with the support from Gallery Associate.
  • Oversee the general exhibition plannings and ensure all set-ups are according to schedule.
  • Manage all artist contracts and occasionally communicate with artists for upcoming exhibitions and programs.


Requirements:

  • B.A. in Arts, Cultural Management, Communications, or Business Administration will be ideal.
  • More than 2 years of experience in art industry, particular in commercial fine art galleries.
  • Excellent Cantonese, Mandarin and English language written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and professional skills.
  • A team player who can support the Gallery Owner and the team.
  • Exceptional attention to details.
