A Night Stroll Along The Milky Way

The Stroll Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of gallery ceramic collections of Sanghyun Yoon and Jiwoon Yang. Sanghyun Yoon’s moon jar depicts the crystalizing lights in the clear night sky, emitted by the stars of the Milky Way. Jiwoon Yang reinterprets and applies the traditional Korean gold inlay technique in her Cera-stone Series, actualizing the twinkling golden stars on the stone surface.

• Artist Jiwoon Yang reinterprets and applies Korean traditional inlay technique to her artistic taste. She possesses her own inventive gold inlay technique where gold is applied to and peeled off from a surface that has patterns and natural text of soil. Works are further polished to express the soft light and texture of soil. Living objects and accessories are crafted through her technique so that the consumers can experience art in their daily life.

• Artist Sanghyun Yoon focuses on the contemporary trend of moon jars, and the future movement of Korean ceramics. The glaze made by mixing cobalt and copper ingredients shields the full shape of the moon jar, forming crystals that are reminiscent of stars in the night sky. Like the title of his solo exhibition “Blue Sky, Milky Way, White Porcelain”, the artist’s work stimulates nostalgia that exists in one’s fractures of memory and finds its growing place in one’s heart.
