Opera Gallery Hong Kong proudly presents its upcoming show: Abstraction Athwart Worlds: Ties Between Modern Worlds from 3rd October to 24th October, revealing 15 stunning artworks dating from the 70s to present. The exhibition ties together the abstract works that set out to uncover the rich interplay among culture, location and historic moment. Renowned Chinese artists including Zao Wou-Ki, Chu Teh-Chun and Feng Xiao-Min, along with their Western cognates, Pierre Soulages, Hans Hartung and Jean-Paul Riopelle will be displayed.
Following its auspicious location at the crossroads of East and West, Opera Gallery Hong Kong has chosen to exhibit a compendium of works to provoke and stimulate your imagination and interpretation. These distinctive international giants of Post-War and contemporary art offer a cultural exchange traditional techniques exploration of ideas and a presentation of pure artistic talent.
Throughout the works, one will be able to navigate and discover the artistic conversation that have developed between Eastern and Western abstract art during their time spent in France. Paris has long been an incubator for artistic thought, resulting in a wonderful diversion of artistic ideas and expression – from the desire to portray the reality of life, to the drive to disassociate from any recognisable form, the post-war period gave rise to some of the most revered and enduring movements.
