Art Talk with curator Hisako Motoo

Over The Influence will be hosting a talk with Hisako Motoo, curator of the ongoing show: “The Solo Exhibition of Nobuyoshi Araki”

Hisako Motoo will bring her insight on the curation of the exhibition at Over The Influence and share her experience and knowledge about the master of photography Nobuyoshi Araki.

About Hisako Motoo

As one of the most iconic independent curators and editors working within and outside of Japan, Hisako Motoo has been collaborating with numerous internationally acclaimed Japanese photographers as well as proactively promoting the works of overseas artists. Among her celebrated curatorial projects, she ensures that each project is endowed with an exciting, innovative and inspired new concept, constantly pushing the boundaries for creative discourse and artistic dialogue. In 2015, she founded art space AM, a forward-thinking platform that combines exhibitions and art books published by her company, eyesencia. ‘AM’ originates from the surname initials of Nobuyoshi Araki, Daido Moriyama and Hisako Motoo, relating in particular to the deeply rooted relationship between her and Araki through multiple exhibition and publishing collaborations, stemming from the artist’s solo exhibition Tenshi Sai (Festival of Angels) in the early 1990s. Motoo has curated acclaimed exhibition Sentimental Journey by Nobuyoshi Araki in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Motoo also serves as a consultant of Zhi Japan, a monthly magazine that introduces Japanese culture to Chinese audiences.
