de Sarthe Artist Residency X Wing Po So

de Sarthe is pleased to announce its third annual de Sarthe Artist Residency (deSAR) as well as its resident artist, Wing Po So (b. Hong Kong 1985). The artist will create artwork in the gallery space, which will be open to the public during normal gallery hours throughout the duration of the residency. deSAR runs from 10 July to 31 August and will culminate in a short exhibition at the beginning of September.

During the residency, So will transform the space into a fictional excavation site. The artworks she plans to construct are made with Chinese medicinal ingredients such as plants, roots, seeds, and minerals, in addition to found objects. Engaging human senses through textures and smells, So’s artworks fundamentally reconstruct time, space, and scale to contemplate philosophies about matter and being.
