January 14th, 2016 – Leo Gallery proudly presents Chinese Contemporary artist Chen Chunmu’s solo exhibition in their SOHO 189 Art Lane space in Hong Kong. Chen Chunmu uses washes of diluted dark coloured paint and ink to give his paintings a fluidity and translucency that correspond to their ambiguous dreamlike identities. Chen paints absurd structures with his fluid painting technique, to demonstrate the parallels between reality and imagination, which informs audiences of his unique visual world.

Born in Quan Zhou in 1981, Chen has participated in group exhibitions since 2002 across the globe; in 2007 he participated in the show titled Gathering—Nine Artists’ Exhibition Of Contemporary Art, Quac Art Space, Beijing, China; in 2010 he participated in The Big Bang at the White Rabbit Museum, Australia and the show The World Around—Exhibition Of Ten at the Gehua Museum, Beijing, China; in 2013, he participated in The First China—ASEAN Biennale, Guangxi, China; in 2014 he participated in the Fujianese Contemporary Art Exhibition, Soka Gakkai Malaysia, Malaysia, Art Expo Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, alongside showcasing New Horizons—Young Artist New Works, at 798 Arts Center, Beijing, China, as well as A Life without the Thrill of the Order, at The Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong, China; in 2015 he showcased in Meta Vision—Seven Unique Languages Personal History at Rainbow Wall Art Gallery, Beijing, China.

His recent solo exhibitions include Worms Revolution at Soobin Art Int’l, Singapore in 2011 and Buried Oneself in the Earth and Waiting for Growing Up in Hongkun Museum of Fine Art, Beijing, China and Make an Honest Flower in Ying Gallery, Beijing, China in 2015.

In 2006 his work Floweriness, was presented at the Song Zhuang Art Museum, Beijing, China were later collected by White Rabbit Museum, Australia.
