My Mum / My Father

The joint solo exhibition “My Mum / My Father” features the new works of two Mainland Chinese photography artists: My Mum by Ren Hang (b.1987), a rising star on contemporary Chinese art scene who encapsulates the country’s subculture in his provocative personal photography; and Father by Li Lang (b.1969), one of China’s most important artists of documentary photography in recent years. In a contrasting showcase of Ren’s colourful and conceptually playful portraits of his mother, and Li’s emotive documentations of the life of his late father on which he hand-wrote 30,219 dates of the days his father lived, the exhibition reflects some of the intriguing and experimental facets of the two photographic forms.
