Just the thought of it! Jacques Pellegrin’s vibrant works evoke summer and the south of France!
Pellegrin started painting at age eight, and at the tender age of 11 received first prize from the Aix-en-Provence City Hall. He has been painting at his studio in Marseilles and winning prizes ever since!
The artist’s style originally connected to the classic and realist art movements, but then he discovered impressionism. Pellegrin was influenced by Fauvists and French expressionists such as Vincent van Gogh, Andre Derain, Albert Marquet, Kees van Dongen and Henri Matisse. He also followed artists of the Provence and Marseilles art school.
Pellegrin uses strong colours, and each painting tells a story, recalls an anecdote, or evokes a memory…… In his works, characters and symbols are shown in unrealistic colours, shapes, dimensions and sizes, giving his paintings an animated feel.
Pellegrin’s works have been shown at many successful exhibitions in France, Morocco, China and Sweden, and were very well received at the Asia Contemporary Art Show in 2013. We are delighted to present this new collection in Hong Kong from March 18th, 2014.
