Ólafsfjörður

by Ling Pui Sze, Cheung Tsz Hin

Date: 18 July, 2019 | 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
We are delighted to present "Ólafsfjörður", an exhibition by Ling Pui Sze and Cheung Tsz Hin with a guest curator Chun Poon.  Located in the north of Iceland, Ólafsfjörður is a small town with a population of more than 800 residents.  Iceland may not be a familiar country to many local Hong Kong citizens. Therefore, probably even fewer of us are acquainted with Ólafsfjörður - perhaps not even able to pronounce the word. Iceland may give off a perception of being a cold and seclusive location, where some Jedi masters choose to meditate. Imagine that you were going to Iceland - what would you do?  Would you play with snow in the winter streets or graze the sheep in the summer meadow? For Ling Pui Sze and Cheung Tsz Hin, they participated in an artist residency program for a mo... Read more

The exhibition will be on view at Pace’s gallery in the H Queen’s building from July 19 – August 29, 2019, with an opening reception in the presence of the artist on Thursday, July 18, from 6 – 8 pm.   Nawa’s PixCell series is created by covering the surface of an object with transparent spheres, transforming each into a “husk of light.... Tenzing Rigdol: Dialogue

Date: 20 July, 2019 | 12:00 am - 11:59 pm
Rossi & Rossi is delighted to present Dialogue, an exhibition showcasing drawings and paintings by Tibetan diasporic artist Tenzing Rigdol (b. 1982). This presentation marks Rigdol’s fourth solo exhibition with Rossi & Rossi. Dramatic diagonal lines and sharp angles – referencing the gridlines and guidelines used in traditional Buddhist paintings to ensure accurate representations of sacred figures and diagrams – disrupt the forms depicted in the artist’s latest works. However, whilst such marks are never shown in traditional Buddhist art, they form an essential component of Rigdol’s practice. Instead of hiding them, he uses these lines to deconstruct and dismantle the deities and figures he depicts, creating tension between the lines and the coloured forms. The... Read more
