About Us

Alisan Fine Arts is Hong Kong’s longest running professional art gallery dedicated to Chinese contemporary art, especially Chinese diaspora, new ink and women artists. We operate across 2 spaces in Hong Kong and maintain a dynamic exhibition programme.

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Gallery Assistant to help with design, marketing and sales. The ideal candidate will have a background in design and art history. 

Key Responsibilities

-Design of marketing material including catalogues, posters, advertising material, weekly mailers - both online and printed. 

- Produce 3D renderings for gallery and fair booths. 

- Assist in keeping gallery website and social media platforms, including WeChat, Little Red Book, Facebook, and Instagram up to date 

-assist in creating YouTube clips of relevant artists, talks, and events.

- Assist in greeting guests and be able to take about the art work with potential clients. 

Additional Responsibilities:

- Support the sales team with artwork viewings, including hanging, installing, and moving artworks for client appointments

-Ensure the general appearance of the gallery is neat and tidy at the beginning and end of each day.

- Maintain thorough knowledge of all gallery spaces, storage locations, and artwork placement

-Keep the director updated on all important details.

-Since the gallery staff is small, everyone is expected to pitch in and help each other during busy times.

Requirements

Experience

- 1–2 years of professional experience in the arts or related field. 

Skills & Competencies

- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail

- Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to work under pressure during exhibition deadlines

- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with clear prioritization

- Physical capability to handle artworks and assist with installation

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, and SketchUp

Languages

- Fluent in English and Chinese - Cantonese and /or Mandarin (written and spoken)

Personal Attributes

- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

- Professional demeanor when interacting with artists, collectors, and vendors

- Flexible schedule with availability for occasional evening and weekend work during exhibition openings, events and fairs 

- Stay up to date with industry developments and market trends.

-Travel overseas may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in handling AV equipment and digital technologies is a plus.

- Immediate availability is highly preferred.
