Responsibilities:
• Assist in the daily operations at the gallery;

We are recruiting a detail minded and attentive individual for the position of Warehouse Assistant & Art Handler. Your daily duties include load and un-load trucks, packing / un-packing of artwork, provide excellent service to our clients in our Private Viewing Room at our art storage facility. You will also be required to work effectively to securely receive, release, and process high value items from our facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Handling Fine Art
  • Manage overall artwork inventory/stock and logistic for the gallery, exhibition, events and sales.
  • Basic duties include but are not limited to: Packing, installation, de-installation, condition reports, wall repair, and lighting.
  • Ensure packing, handling and installation standards and protocols are met, as set by Artist or Lender.
  • Up/Unloading trucks and crates from trucks, and daily moving of crates, artworks and other items in a safe and professional manner.
  • Pulling artworks for release or delivery and putting away artworks in storage
  • Care and maintenance of artworks, uphold safe storage solutions for inventory and arrange condition check and report when needed.
  • Maintain inventory of tools and packing materials.
  • Coordinate and purchase supplies from outside vendors, while tracking expenses and costs.
  • General knowledge of consignment and loan agreements, including transport to museums, galleries, clients and artists.
  • Conduct admin work included but not limited to release form, acknowledgment receipt , database management, artwork labelling, and document retention.
  • Facilities maintenance (i.e. ensuring best practices with heavy machinery, security system oversight, lighting tracks and other problem solving).
  • Responsible for receiving and releasing shipments and its arrangement.
  • Coordinate local, domestic and international shipments of artwork and deliveries and manage relevant communications in a clear and seamless fashion, including customs documentation.
  • Maintain warehouse consistency and cleanliness.
  • Ad-hoc duties when required.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma and college degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience working within the art logistic, gallery or museum background preferred.
  • Fluent verbal and written English and Chinese (including Mandarin).
  • Possess basic computer skills (MS Outlook Calendar, MS Word, MS Excel).
  • Extensive experience safely handling and packing artworks with vast knowledge of installing artworks.
  • Physical work and heavy lifting for typical 20 kgs per item, and able to working at height up to 4.5m on ladder or platform.
  • Experience in artwork management, inventory management and logistic coordinator.
  • Ability and willingness to work well within a team, as well as independently; enthusiasm and flexibility appreciated.

Executive Assistant to the Managing Director | Ben Brown Fine Arts

Ben Brown Fine Arts is looking for a dynamic, highly organized, and self-motivated candidate to fill the role of Executive Assistant to the Managing Director. This is a key position within the gallery and the role spans a wide range of responsibilities, from administrative tasks to work on larger projects, such as exhibition planning and art fair logistics. The Executive Assistant to the Managing Director will become deeply familiar with a selection of the gallery artists’ work and will gain an understanding of the history of the gallery, as well as its latest projects. KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage overall design and visuals material for exhibitions, events and sales presentation, including but not limited to artist portfolios; exhibition (e-)invites, posters, leaflets, pamphlets, catalogues, window or wall text’s vinyl stickers and artwork labels; sales pitching documents and PowerPoints; gallery advertisements , communications visual, article and EDMs.
  • Produce printed material including poster, pamphlet, catalogue, stickers or any required materials to ensure deadlines are met for usages while materials are printed to the highest quality.
  • Communicate with existing vendors and reach out to new production to ensure printing and production work process smoothly.

We are looking for a Assistant Exhibition Curator to join our team.

Job Description

Main Responsibilities:

  • Content planning
  • Artworks management
  • Assist director to plan / create / manage exhibitions
  • Content organization in general
  • Manage gallery VIP
  • Update and maintain curator database

Qualifications:

  • An art-related degree (Degree in Art History related is preferred)
  • Experience in Art fair (e.g. Art Basel, Art Central, etc.)
  • Interest and understanding in art content
  • Ability to create and work with basic documentation tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
  • Advantage if experienced in design, basic media editing applications (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Fluency in English, Cantonese, Mandarin
  • Basic knowledge of Korean is a plus

Preferred:

  • Related experience (planning, gallery work experience)

We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on project executive to join us. Reporting directly to the gallery director, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our art exhibitions, events, and day-to-day gallery operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram)
  • Assist with graphic design, photography, and video editing for marketing collateral preparation
  • Help plan and organize art and cultural exhibitions and events
  • Update artwork inventory and client database
  • Provide support for general office operations and other ad-hoc duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of work experience
  • Good knowledge of social media platforms
  • Proficiency in IT skills, including Microsoft Office, and preferably have knowledge of graphic software such as Illustrator/Photoshop

With a unique background combining French and Japanese heritage, William is committed to fostering cultural connections and promoting artists globally. The gallery serves as a platform for both emerging and established artists, encouraging creativity and cultural exchange. Initially focusing on connecting Japan and Hong Kong, William now aims to weave art from around the world into the dynamic Hong Kong art scene.

We are currently seeking a proactive, organised, and enthusiastic intern to join our team with the opportunity to explore and gain in-depth knowledge of gallery operation.

As part of the team, the candidate shall be responsible for:

  • Assist with daily operations and general administration tasks
  • Provide support for organising exhibitions and art fairs
  • Conduct research and assist in cataloguing and translation of writing materials
  • Maintain gallery website and develop captivating and visually compelling digital content and utilise data-driven insights to optimise the performance of digital content for various social media platforms
  • Assist with shipping, logistics and art handling as needed
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as required

You are required:

  • University students or fresh graduates with a passion in contemporary art
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge in design software, such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and SketchUp is an advantage
  • Responsible, organised, self-motivated with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese; another language is a plus
  • Holder of the Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card or possess a valid visa permitting internship in Hong Kong
  • Must be available from 22 - 26 October 2024 and may need to work additional hours for gallery openings and events

Located in the Southside of Hong Kong.
The working hours is from Tuesday to Saturday, 11 am to 7 pm with an hour lunch break.
Immediate availability is preferable.
This is an unpaid internship with a daily allowance provided.
