Art Gallery Manager

10 Chancery Lane Gallery is one of Hong Kong’s most established and vibrant art galleries, now in its 18th year of operations, representing a diverse group of artists primarily from the Pan-Asia Pacific. The Gallery is looking for a highly motivated, communicative and enthusiastic individual to manage the gallery.

Job description:

• Oversee and manage the gallery team, ensuring good communication and workflow.
• Manage all exhibitions and gallery events including artist liaison, shipments and installation.
• Co-ordinate and manage all aspects of art fair participation including applications, fair and artist liaison, shipments, installation and administration.
• Manage all gallery operations and office administration work to include overseeing artwork inventory, office management (legal documents, insurance, oversee monthly accounting), shipping and logistics, artwork management, venue-hire coordination, invoicing, bill payments, and deliveries.
• Assist in all post-sale follow-up with clients ensuring professionalism and efficiency.
• Ensure detailed and accurate image archive of artists’ works.
• Work with the team on business strategy and development.
• Assist in the writing and production of marketing and promotional materials.

Requirements:

• University graduate preferred with business, management or administrative degree (but not required if sufficient experience) with minimum 4-year work experience in office management.
• Highly organized, self-motivated and cheerful applicants who are able to manage and organize the gallery operations with passion and efficiency. Excellent business acumen, being analytical, creative and having outstanding communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Knowledge of Contemporary Art and the Hong Kong art market.
• Good command of both written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
• Proficient in Mac OS platform a must. With computer proficiency (including Excel, FileMaker Pro, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook) with English and Chinese processing. Beneficial to be knowledgeable in design software including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.
